We are pleased to announce that Jessica Silwick, ABET Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE), effective July 25, 2024.

As one of only two board members who are not CEOs, Silwick hopes to bring a new perspective to the organization. “I’m hoping to be able to use the diversity of my voice, position and my thoughts and ideas to enrich the board activities,” she said.

Silwick’s involvement with CESSE began through special interest groups in 2022, which she credits for significantly enhancing her professional network and resources. When the opportunity to join the board of directors presented itself, Silwick said she was quick to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s continued growth and success, not only for ABET and its member societies but for the whole STEM education community.

Because CESSE reaches a wide variety of disciplines, Silwick appreciates the organization’s diversity in thought in problem solving. She believes CESSE provides resources and networking opportunities that are essential to society executives who are committed to supporting STEM professions. This is in direct alignment with ABET’s purpose, supporting those who are tasked with creating a better world.

“We are all facing the same challenges and, now more than ever, being able to come together as a community with solutions that we can then take back to enrich our own associations as well as our members, I think is very, very important,” she stated.

Silwick has been an integral part of ABET’s leadership team, where she has driven strategic, financial and operational excellence. Her appointment to the CESSE board reflects her dedication and expertise in the engineering and scientific community.
